Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. The result creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles, short hair stubble or enhance thinning hair to appear dense with hair follicles. If you are starting to thin, recede, or if you are completely bald, we can give you the look of a short buzz cut or a full head of hair.
Our pricing is based on the amount of hair loss, which is different for each client. Typically, the price ranges between $2,500 – $5,000. We recommend setting up a free consultation so our team can evaluate your case and provide a personalized price quote based on your hair loss needs.
Scalp micropigmentation should never be considered a one treatment process. Most clients can expect between 2-4 sessions to complete their treatment depending on the extent of hair loss or scarring. These treatments are usually spaced about 7-21 days apart.
The Scalp Micropigmentation treatment typically takes 3-6 hours per session depending on your degree of hair loss. Most clients can expect between 2-4 sessions to complete their treatment depending on the extent of hair loss or scarring. These treatments are usually spaced about 7-21 days apart.
After completion of your treatment (2-4 sessions) a client should expect the strength of the pigment to last for many years. Over longer term, a client will gradually begin to notice slight lightening (not discolor), and give the look of hair loss beginning to happen again. When this occurs they can undergo a one session “touch up” to restore any fading and secure many more years of their style.
Forever SMP takes pride on the ability to seamlessly blend and replicate each individual hair follicle to create undetectable camouflaged impressions to match each clients hair loss treatment. Scalp micropigmentation has become such an effective hair loss solution because of its natural and undetectable results. People cannot tell the difference between what is hair and what is pigment.
Scalp micropigmentation requires no down time. In most cases, you will not need to take any extended time away from work, school, or other functions. After treatment it is common to notice slight redness on the scalp for up to 2 days post session.
If you are unsure of what type of hairline will work for you, your SMP treatment specialist will be there to help. With artistic experience your SMP artist knows how to create a hairline that fits the clients head shape and age, and recommend what’s best. Over the course of your sessions you can also adjust the hairline for a perfect result. The last swoon will also include precision to the frame of the face to make sure the new look is desired.
No. Scalp micropigmentation is a form of permanent cosmetics, but unlike tattoo ink, the pigment used is designed specifically for SMP and is Carbon based. The pigment contains no additional colorants or additives and will only lighten, not discolor over an extended time.
Scalp micropigmentation also utilizes different equipment than traditional tattooing, ensuring the needle and machine are designed specifically for micropigmentation of the scalp.
Depending upon the pattern and extent of the thinning hair, some clients are able to maintain a longer length of hair. Scalp pigmentation can help thicken areas so that less of the scalp is seen showing through. However, if there is a strong pattern of hair loss or just not a lot of hair density left, the client is recommended to cut it shorter.
Yes, those with grey hair can still benefit from the scalp micropigmentation procedure. First, most clients are recommended to cut their hair to a short length. When the hair is cut grey hair does not appear as grey because the hair follicle area has the hair root inside of the skin and it is darker. Hair only shows grey as it gets longer. Second, we use a grey-scale pigment that can be adjusted with shade to blend with lighter hair tones like red and blonde. We simply create a lighter dilution for blending into the existing hairs.
Yes absolutely, by replicating tiny hair follicles inside the scarring and blending the pigment around the scarring area. Injury, transplant and surgical scars can see massive improvement in concealment.

We recommend no heavy sweating or intense exercise for 4-5 days after your scalp micropigmentation treatment.
For most clients, the pain minimal and it’s consistently less painful than traditional tattoos. After your session, you won’t experience any further discomfort other than potential soreness until the redness has subsided. Most clients say on a scale of 1-10 the pain is a 3. Most clients fall asleep.
Scalp Micropigmentation is used to add density to thinning areas. We are able to add thickness to areas like the crown, hair parting and more. For people that are using scalp micropigmentation to rebuild their hairline, we recommend keeping your hair short for a more balanced look as hair loss becomes more dominant

The equipment used for a scalp treatment is considered micropigmentation equipment. There are many different brands and designs and equipment includes a digital power source, a hand-piece machine, and disposable micro-needles to puncture the skin and for the insertion of pigment. Most technicians of Scalp Micropigmentation use different equipment than standard tattoo artists to ensure the deposits are delicately placed at the appropriate depth in the skin.
Clients can continue using Propecia during and after their scalp pigmentation procedure. Rogaine (topical minoxidil) should be suspended during the course of treatment and for 30 days post your final session. This is to ensure the proper healing and settling of pigment without interference of the chemicals found in Rogaine foam.
The growth of scalp micropigmentation (hairline tattoos, scalp tattoos) has been tremendous over the last few years. This means a lot more clinics, but also means prospective patients need to do their research! Look for clinics and technicians that have been operating for several years, have a vast and dynamic portfolio of results, and help answer any questions you have. It is always a good idea to schedule an in-person consultation if you are unsure, in order to eliminate those providers you just don’t feel comfortable with. Forever SMP has technicians who have 5 years experience with procedures.
Yes we can! We use our specialized scalp micropigmentation technique to deposit matched pigment into the scar to reduce visibility.
No, we offer free consultations for anyone looking to learn about how scalp micropigmentation can help their hair loss.
Scalp Micropigmentation is not a traditional tattoo. Scalp Micropigmentation is a form of permanent cosmetics, but unlike tattooing or permanent makeup, the treatment replicates the look of hair by using pointillism techniques. Scalp Micropigmentation utilizes different equipment than traditional tattooing, ensuring the needle and machine are designed specifically for micropigmentation of the scalp.

We recommend no scrubbing or picking at your scalp through the whole healing process. Shampooing, or shaving over the treated area must be after 4-5 days after your scalp micropigmentation treatment.
Yes, you can wear a hat or a skullcap after your scalp micropigmentation treatment is complete. However, we hope you won’t be wearing them as much! You cannot however wear a hat during treatment and during the healing process. The hat will restrict oxygen to the scalp and to the “wound” and prolong the healing process.
We recommend you avoid chlorinated pools, saunas, steam rooms, and tanning beds for 30 days post final scalp micropigmentation session.
There are three main differences between Scalp Micropigmentation vs. Tattooing:
- We are depositing pigment into the skin at a shallower depth than tattoos.
- We are strictly making small micro dots through pointillism method, not shading or drawing lines
- We use only a black pigment which is much more diluted than typical tattoo inks. For this reason, it won’t break down to different colors or look too saturated once healing has occurred.
No, the scalp micropigmentation treatment will not grow your hair back. However, the SMP treatment will give you the look of a full head of hair. We recommend keeping your hair at a shorter length to create the most natural outcome.
After the first scalp micropigmentation session, your treatment will fade which is completely normal. In the second and third sessions, we add more density to create a fuller look. Pigment retention varies for each person and some may notice more fading that others depending on many factors like skin and aftercare.
